Here is our series of Advent Reflections with C. S. Lewis. We offer a pithy quote, the reference for you to read more, and, even more importantly, two Scripture passages, one being verses from Psalms. We hope it will edify you as we prepare our hearts to celebrate the Incarnation. If you want to join us on Facebook under the flag, “The Official C.S. Lewis Group”, we’re a bustling crew of 72,000 plus people and you are more than invited. Click here

“You ask me . . . ‘Surely God has always been the same loving and heavenly Father and it was the interpretation of God that Christ revealed.’ I see what you mean but the question is to me very difficult to answer. On the one hand something really new did happen at Bethlehem: not an interpretation but an event. God became Man. On the other hand there must be a sense in which God, being outside time, is changeless and nothing ever ‘happens’ to Him. I think I should reply that the event at Bethlehem was a novelty, a change to the maximum extent to which any event is a novelty or change: but that all time and all events in it, if we could see them all at once and fully understand them, are a definition or diagram of what God eternally is.” - Collected Letters, Dec. 26, 1945, to Arthur Greeves
