Absalom. Son of and conspirator against David. Psalm 3 is credited to David, written as he fled from his favored son Absalom who established himself as king of Israel. As you know, Absalom died as a result of getting his hair caught in a tree and David's general cutting him down by way of his head.

God laughs. God mocks. God rebukes. God terrifies. How about that for God? Tyrants, presidents and kings wield weapons while they plot to secure legacy and power. God knows their conspiracy and he holds them in contempt of him.

The book of Psalms starts with a strange chord of truth. As songs of worship to a living God, we would think it would begin with lauding and adoration. Instead, it begins with us.
